One of the most common problems I treat in my busy practice is erectile dysfunction - ie the inability of a man to either get or to maintain an erection during sexual intercourse. Now it has to be said that often this problem is successfully treated as a medical one and there are many times that a doctor's prescription can help.
But what if the cause is psychological - all in the mind ? This is where a treatment like hypnotherapy can be very effective. We do not have to go down the road of analysis for hypnosis to work - we can use the power of suggestion and imagery to effect changes in the way the body functions.
Many clients are subconsciously afraid of sex and fear they cannot perform or satisfy their partner so to avoid the situation altogether the subconscious protects the client by creating the very thing that will stop any more sexual activity - almost as if to say you cannot fail if you don't want to even try. So to avoid being a failure don't do it at all.
Confidence is a mental attribute so suggestion and creative imagining can help to build more self-confidence and this may be reflected in the workings of the body. If you doubt this then remember a man has only to think of something sexy and immediately the body responds as if sex is about to happen there and then. This link between mind and body can be addressed and stimulated by hypnotic suggestion.
